Duplo's flagship System 5000 bookletmaker delivers quality finishing in-line with Xerox iGen3 at Graph Expo 2006
(Santa Ana, CA: October 15th 2006) Duplo's Flagship fully automated System 5000 bookletmaker and collating solution will be presented for the first time in-line with a Xerox IGen3 digital color press, on the Xerox booth (#1217) Graph Expo 2006. Capable of handling both digital and offset print, the System 5000 has been developed with modular components, which combines vacuum-fed collators with a range of dynamic bookletmakers and trimmers to offer the most versatile and scalable range of collate, stitch, fold and trim systems for the professional printer.
The Duplo System 5000 in-line with the Xerox IGen3 on show at Graph Expo 2006 incorporates the Slit, Cut, Crease (SCC) bookletmaker, designed to accept sheets directly from the digital press, to create a complete, full-bleed printing and bookletmaking system suited for a wide range of digital on-demand applications. The SCC module takes care of the two common issues associated with digital color output. First, it produces an accurate full bleed trim on four sides of each sheet, which is registered by a CCD camera to the image, rather than to the physical dimensions of the sheet. The SCC unit can then crease the cover and innermost sheets of the booklet, or all the sheets in the booklet, so that image cracking on the fold-line is prevented.
¡§It is the ongoing dedication and commitment of Duplo to stretching the boundaries of print finishing technology that sets Duplo apart from its competitors and ensures we deliver technologies that provide up to the minute solutions for our customers. Our flagship System 5000 bookletmaker and collator is a truly versatile, fully automated solution that simplifies the most complex finishing processes into one seamless pass¡¨, comments Si Nguyen, Product Marketing Manager at Duplo USA Corporation.
He continues, ¡§We are delighted to be able to present the System 5000 in-line with the Xerox IGen3 digital color press at Graph Expo, which will highlight the significant benefits in terms of flexibility, increased productivity, and both labor and cost saving efficiencies which can be achieved with bringing print finishing in-line to create a seamless production solution.¡¨
Designed to maximize production output, the System 5000 can operate at speeds of up to 5,000 booklets and 10,000 collated sets an hour, with the capability to handle a variety of sheet sizes as well as booklet covers of up to 300gsm without manual intervention. It is particularly suited to a range of on-demand applications such as CD and DVD sized booklets through to A4, A3 and oversized commercial print formats, alternating between formats at the push of a button, or when part of a near-line or in-line system under the control of a UPVI compatible controller.
