Duploís DuBinder makeS US debut at Graph Expo 2006

(Santa Ana, CA: October 15th 2006)  Duplo USA is presenting for the first time in the US, the Duplo DuBinder, its first high production perfect binder, on its booth #3846 at Graph Expo 2006.  The DuBinder, which was first debuted at IPEX earlier this year, is a fully automatic, single clamp system that can successfully handle output from both offset and digital print devices at speeds of up to 500 books per hour.

Producing a strong bind and quality results, the DuBinder creates a sleek and professional look on a range of applications including books, directories, manuals and magazines.  The system is fully flexible to cater for a variety of different print environments, in particular medium volume offset printers, the print-on-demand sector, high-volume in plant facilities, government departments and specialist finishing houses.

Says Si Nguyen, Product Marketing Manager at Duplo USA Corporation, ďAccording to research based in the US, perfecting binding is still the most widely used method of professional book binding and over the next two years, it is estimated that 25% of printers plan to invest in a new perfect binding machine.  With the DuBinder, we are confident that we are offering the market one of the most advanced, high-end perfect binding systems that provides as standard, all the features customers are looking for, and that is fully adaptable to meet the needs of both offset, digital and hybrid print environments.Ē

The DuBinder offers state-of-the-art automation, which in turn leads to a reduction in set-up times and costs, making it perfect for short run and variable print.  One of the machine's key attributes is its easy-to-use integrated controls, which facilitate a book-bound quality with minimal operator skills.

The DuBinder can be programmed automatically to accommodate a range of specifications, including book thickness and cover press position.  The four scoring accessories move in pairs according to the spine width so that the hinge is always in the correct location on the front and rear covers.  Installing and accessing information can be done simply via the touch screen monitor, from which the machine can process a stored job within thirty seconds, significantly reducing make-ready times.  In addition, finished material is presented to the operatorís loading table, allowing greater productivity, efficiency and optimized ergonomics.

As well as offering economical and efficient short runs, the DuBinderís highly productive cycle speed makes it suitable for longer run lengths.  Together with the DuBinderís jogging table, which positions each document on the feeder prior to binding, the systemís range of inbuilt features such as the double sheet detector and the book thickness sensor ensures it operates with utmost precision and accuracy at all times, which ultimately reduces wastage.

The DuBinderís suction belt cover-feed provides a smooth and accurate delivery of the cover to each book every time, whilst cover creasing ensures a professionally presented document.  It is capable of binding a wide range of materials with a maximum booklet size of 360 x 320mm and minimum size of 120 x 120mm.  Cover sheet sizes range from 360 x 695mm and 120 x 240mm.
